Tuesday’s Washington Post (circ. 673,180) featured an article on the RipStik. This same article has since been picked up by The Montreal Gazette (circ. 133,954) in Canada, the Journal-World (circ. 30,000) in Lawrence, KS will and in today’s Fort Wayne Journal Gazette (circ. 64,304).
The article is focused only on the RipStik and touches on the risk of injury. They interviewed a representative from a local hospital who says he’s treated RipStik-related injuries, but this injury risk shouldn’t stop parents from letting their kids do something that’s great exercise and lots of fun. He even bought a RipStik for his 11-year-old and says the RipStik, “improves balance and fine motor control.”
The article is also posted on the Washington Post website.

See below for an excerpt out of an article from the San Jose Mercury News (circ. 228,537), which mentions the RipStik. In the newspaper’s regular People Watching feature they wrote about a police lieutenant who bought RipStiks for his kids and loved them so much he bought one for himself. He says it’s a great workout.
“The other thing, which is my new love, is I bought my kids a RipStik (caster board), and it was so much fun I ended up buying one for myself. But I need them to go with me because otherwise I look like a dork! They’re a cover for me to do what I want to do. It’s such a blast; it’s a great workout.”

See below for an excerpt out of an article from the Southtown Star (circ. 49,587), which mentions the RipStik. One local 10-year-old wants a RipStik for his birthday, but instead of asking friends for it he’s holding a fundraiser birthday party to raise money to send mosquito nets to children in Africa to protect them from malaria.
“Now, just days before his 10th birthday, the New Lenox boy is just as adamant about helping kids. So instead of asking his friends for a RipStik or a Subskate - both of which are top on his wish list - he’s hoping for donations for bed nets to protect children in Africa from malaria.” Southtown Star, By Duaa Eldeib, Staff Writer

Check out the RipStik segment that was shot at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego for Planet X TV and has been posted on the homepage of their Web site – www.PlanetX.tv (reach: 3,800). It’s a great nearly 3 minute clip, with various shots and angles of the kids riding the RipStiks. The show is making a dub of the clip for us and we’ll be sure to save for our files once we receive. We are also working to obtain viewership numbers for the particular show that it aired on.
